Where do you travel to?

I cover York and the immediate surrounding area. If you're within the York ring road then definitely all good. I may come out further but there will be a small additional charge to cover travel time and petrol depending where you are.

If you're unsure, just send me an email or give me a call to confirm before you book.

What sort of massage do
you do?

I am a professional massage therapist, I have a holistic approach and use Swedish, Thai, Deep Tissue and Acupressure techniques as well as energy work to tailor my treatment to what you need on that particular day.

I'm not a sports massage therapist or physiotherapist. I can recommend people that do this if you feel this is more what you need.

I am currently not trained in pregnancy massage or seated massage.

I am a member of the Federation Of Holistic Therapists and Association of Reflexologists

PLEASE NOTE I HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TO ANYONE ASKING FOR ANYTHING SEXUAL, YOU WILL BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please note:

  • You will receive a 100% refund with four or more days’ notice of the appointment.

  • You will receive 50% refund with four days or less notice of the appointment.

  • No refund with less than 24 hours’ notice of the appointment.

Parking

I will need to be able to park near to your house and will need to know in advance whether there are any stairs I will need to get the massage table up or down!

All permits and charges for parking need to be covered by the client.

Male Clients

Sadly I’ve had to introduce a policy that if I’m treating a male client then there needs to be a female in the house to act as a chaperone.

Sorry guys, you deserve massage too but the creeps out there are letting the side down.

Smoking Households

I’m really sensitive to cigarette smoke and therefore can’t work in households where cigarettes are frequently smoked indoors.

Pre-Treatment Consultation

I need to know a little about your health, lifestyle and expectations in order to give you a good treatment. Before your first treatment with me you will need to complete a questionnaire about this which I will email to you.

I will call you before the first time we meet to go through this and it also gives you the chance to ask me anything you're unsure about.

On subsequent visits I'll text you the day before treatment to make sure you're still ok to go ahead and I'll chat to you while I'm setting up about what you need from that treatment.

Data Protection

I will securely store your details for a year after your last treatment.

If needed I can also send you a paper copy of your notes. These will not be shared with any third parties.

You are able to opt out of my occasional marketing emails any time you wish.

Contraindications

A contraindication is a condition which makes massage or reflexology an inappropriate thing to have done at that point in time.

This can either mean I avoid certain areas – such as broken skin or varicose veins, or it may mean a treatment from me is not possible for you right now in order to keep us both safe.

The consultation form will highlight this and I'll be able to advise whether its suitable for treatment to go ahead as planned - you'll get a full refund if not.

Please note that if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs when I arrive for your appointment I will not be able to treat you. My insurance will not cover this and I would not be able to offer a refund in this instance.

On arrival...

I will arrive in your house in a fresh uniform, I will change my footwear to the shoes I use exclusively indoors for therapy work and I will sanitise my hands.

I’ll need you to show me to the room we’ll be using for your treatment. I’ll set up my therapy couch and equipment and we will have a chat about your treatment.

What do I wear?

For a massage you need to undress down to knickers only (ladies) or underwear (men). I will ensure you have full privacy while getting undressed and onto the couch.

I will not do massage on a naked client – please do not request this.

Reflexology and reiki is done fully clothed but I will need to remove your socks for a reflexology treatment.

Equipment

I use an extra wide and deeply padded professional folding couch. You will need to be mobile enough to get on and off this unaided.

The couch will be covered in a fitted towelling cover which is fresh for each massage.

I provide two fresh towels for most treatments. For group bookings of two or more people I will ask each participant to provide their own towel.

If you wish, I can also use attach a heated layer to the couch, similar to an electric blanket (power socket needed). This is great if you are someone who gets very cold or has a colder house. It’s not appropriate for anyone with a pacemaker.

I sometimes use a bolster under the ankles or knees to improve your comfort. I can also bring a small step if you need assistance getting onto the table.

For reflexology I have a reclining chair with extra pillows and blankets as needed.

Oils, waxes and creams

I use unscented, natural, ethically sourced oils from Naissance UK. I tend to use grapeseed oil for most massage as it is a good all-rounder. I use rosehip oil on skin that needs more nourishment and I use apricot kernel oil on the face as it is lighter and more nourishing for this delicate area.

For reflexology I use MoogWax So Simple blend, and The Body Shop’s Peppermint Foot Lotion.

Please let me know if you have any allergies to any of these.

Music

I will bring a small speaker with me, and you are free to select what to listen to during your massage.

I have a selection of natural soundtracks such as waves on a warm beach or bird song, or if you have a favourite album or podcast that you enjoy I’m happy to put this on for you.

If you want to check out my ambient music playlist on Spotify, please do.

Your Body

You know your body better than I do.

If I am doing anything that feels painful or intrusive during treatment then please tell me to stop and I will.

For any treatment to be effective I need you to be relaxed and to feel like you can trust me and talk to me about any concerns you may have.

My aim is always to work with you, and what you need for that treatment.
