Reflexology
Reflexology is a modality which aims to balance the body through stimulating ‘reflex’ points principally on a person’s feet, but can also be hands, face, or even ears!
Before your first treatment I will do a full consultation over the phone or via Zoom, this should take no more than 10 minutes of your time.
You remain fully clothed during a treatment, but I will remove your socks. You will sit on a reclining chair which elevates your feet above your heart - this by itself is very relaxing.
I really do get to treat the whole body with reflexology as there are reflexes to internal organs and areas where it would be difficult or impossible to massage.
Reflexology is beneficial at a basic level for relaxation and allows the body to go into a parasympathetic state (resting and digesting as opposed to fight or flight).
At the start of treatment we’ll discuss any issues you’d like to address and I will set this as my intention as I work. Treatment should not cause pain - although sometimes I find people’s feet have some tender areas and I will back off if anything causes discomfort!
I mark areas of imbalance on a chart as I work and I discuss what I’ve found with you post treatment. Please note that I cannot offer any diagnosis as I am not a doctor - I may suggest you go and see your GP to get something checked over, but ‘imbalances’ are generally not a cause for panic.
